Anglo Saxons Friendly Society Established in 1877. Registered under the Friendly Societies Act 1992. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The Society was founded in 1877 at a time when there was very little help for people in distressed circumstances. The decline of the Welfare State today means that friendly societies have the opportunity to resume their traditional role in providing help in times of need.

Anglo-Saxon history traditionally starts with Hengest and Horsa and their three ships invading Britain in the mid-fifth century, and ends with King Harold falling with an arrow in his eye in 1066. These pages fill in some gaps. October 14 was the Battle of Hastings, but what else? Who really was Erik Bloodaxe.
We have members in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. We are full members of the Scottish Association of Family History Societies and send a representative to their meetings in Edinburgh. We were one of the founder members of SAFHS. See the meeting programme below. There is free access to.
